Chapter 00: We've Arrived!

Ah, Japan. We've now been here since yesterday morning, and what a long trip it was to get here.
So let's catch up on what has happened so far.

We left our houses early Sunday morning at around 6:30 AM, both of us sleepless (I hadn't slept since Friday).
Hallvard's dad had offered to drive us to the airport, so that left us with a good way to get there. Following our arrival at the departure section, we got our tickets and baggage was sent on the way after some mild confusion. Security gate was next with no problems. Having one and half hour to spend before boarding and being hungry as hell, eating was like the mostest obviousest choice of all choices at all whatsoever. Om nom nom and then talking for a while, it was boarding time.

The first flight was a rather short one compared to the one that would follow, and the plane wasn't very good in terms of space. Nothing exciting.

We landed at the airport in Zürich around noon'ish, and all we could really do was to hurry over to the boarding gate since we didn't have much time for meddling. On the way, we took one of those transfer trains from one section of the airport to another. Love those.
After another security gate (ugh..), we got to the boarding gate. Ticket check and whatnot, the main flight could start.

This flight was oh-so-much-more comfortable. Good space, actually good food, and those entertainment systems on the back of the seats. Typically enough, we got the ones that didn't work properly. And I wanted to watch How To Train Your Dragon, Shutter Island, Book of Eli and whatnot... But other than that, I loved the 11 hours we spent on the plane. Very cozy.

And I also finally got to read my Batman comics. Yesss.

Finally in Japan, we took our time to find out where to go and what to do. Heard there was going to be some sort of questioning and such because of security reasons, but all that happened was that they scanned our fingerprints and took our picture. But still, higher security than when we were here in 2007.It took us about five hours to get from Narita aiport to Hibarigaoka, due to some trouble, but now we're here at Tatami Guesthouse. The non-manager, as in the one who helps out the manager, is quite the guy. Really nice and talkative. Things are a lot cheaper than I remember they were, but that's all well and I guess we'll be able to live on that sorta-low budget we were planning on. A lot of yesterday was mostly spent checking out the area and looking for points of interest, such as stores, restaurants and those kind of things. I haven't missed the countless vending machines at every single corner either.

I think we'll like this trip a lot.

Robin signing out.

PS: It's also very, very hot and humid. God, how I miss a decent temperature.
